Lodge #18 is 15 years Old

North Cascades Fraternal Order of Police is now 15 years old.  November 1 2001 this lodge was chartered by 3 guys, who I would like to say had a vision but were taking part in a hospitality room and this lodge was formed.  Lodge #18 was started by Paul Gonzales, Tom Richards and Emerson Nordmark on that lonely night in Wenatchee and the rest is history.

AMFA - SWA Technician Negotiations Update #48
      12/02/16 - AMFA
December 2, 2016 -- We met with the Company in Dallas, Texas in the afternoon of Monday, November 28, for a scheduled one and a half day mediated negotiation session. Since the Company has remained unresponsive to our proposed resolutions to their “must have” items, we chose to use the afternoon to work on some non-economic items that we previously proposed. The first of these items was a Vacation Bank. Although the Company had previously agreed to a “40 hour Roll-Over” program, its concept of allowing only 40 hours maximum from a previous year to be rolled-over and used in the following year fell short of our original proposal. We have previously met with the Company’s technical representative in negotiations and she explained that our Vacation Bank proposal would be easily administered and that they would just create another “bucket” mirroring sick time, current year vacation, floating holidays, etc. to keep track of an employee’s banked vacation.

As many of you may have heard on Monday, November 28, 2016, a worker from AT&T was robbed and shot after following his assailant’s demands.  The story appeared in many news outlets.  The AT&T employee is an IBEW Local 21 Union member. We are grateful to all of you who have prayed and posted words of encouragement since the story was posted on our Facebook page. While we all try to understand this senseless act of violence many IBEW Local Union 21 members have asked how they can help. Some have started collecting donations in their work locations. 12/02/16 - Spokane Police Guild
TACOMA, Wash. -- A woman who witnessed Wednesday's shooting of Tacoma police Officer Reginald "Jake" Gutierrez said he sacrificed himself to save his partner and the wife of the man who opened fire. Kristi Croskey said Gutierrez repeatedly yelled, "Get out! Get out!" to his partner and the woman as shots were fired from an upstairs landing at an East Tacoma home. Croskey was downstairs when she "heard the shells bouncing off the floor" above her head. Gutierrez, 45, a 17-year department veteran known for his ability to defuse tense domestic-violence situations, collapsed inside the home as his partner returned fire and led the man's wife outside to safety. Croskey hid in a downstairs bathroom before fleeing.

      National Director's November 2016 Update
      11/30/16 - AMFA
November 30, 2016 -- The holiday season is now upon us. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of you who have to work undesirable shifts and spend time away from family and friends during the holidays. We must be aware that the holidays may be a time of joy, but they are not always a time of peace. Balancing your family’s expectations with work commitments and social obligations can make this the most stressful time of the year. At the job, the stress of a quick fix or making a schedule may sometimes be stressed more than compliance or you may be working shorthanded as manning levels may be lower due to vacations and/or illness.
