Washington State FOP has added to it's list of benifits retired medical insurance. This is fantastic news as we have been asking for this for years. Who qualifies:
1-Must be a FOP member
2-Older then 50 years old
3-Under 65 years old (at 65 you qualify for medicare.)
4-Retired Law Enforcement
5-Spouce and children of the retired officer
FAQ
1-If I get to 65 and go to medicare but my spouce is younger then me can my spouce stay on the plan till age 65. Answer Yes if you reach medicare age your spouce can stay on the plan
2-If I retire but find work that does not offer medical insurace do I still qualify for the plan. Answer yes you meet the qualification of retiring so you do qualify for the program
3-If my new job gives me medical but my spouce does not have medical, can my spouce go on the plan even if I do not. Yes like in #1 your spouce can be on the plan when your not.
