  • 21st Year of Lodge #18
    Updated On: Nov 04, 2022

    North Cascades Fraternal Order of Police is now 21 years old.  November 1 2001 this lodge was chartered by 3 guys, who I would like to say had a vision but were taking part in a hospitality room and this lodge was formed.  Lodge #18 was started by Paul Gonzales, Tom Richards and Emerson Nordmark on that lonely night in Wenatchee and the rest is history.

    Lodge #18 was started as a fraternal lodge and has grown to over 200 members.  Overt 800 members have come and gone as Law Enforcment from Skagit, Island and Whatcom County.  A few short years later the Whatcom #24 FOP lodge was formed breaking away from lodge #18.  NAS Whidbey was a large supporter of the lodge with dozens of members coming from the base.

    The past few years have seen Anacortes, Burlington, Coupeville, Langley, Oak Harbor, Skagit Corrections, Sedro Woolley and our newest group the Skagit Patrol Deputies join the Labor and Legal programs provided by the National FOP.  Other groups such as Upper Skagit PD and Swinomish PD come in at 100% members.  This is the only organization that allows all Law Enforcment to belong and is why we are over 350,000 members nationwide.

    The charity aspect in all of us has exceeded $250,000 in our time of existance.  Officers, local and nation wide have along with other charities and persons in need have been on the receiving end of our hearts.  After Katrina, we sent a crew led by, Terry Alling, Scott Warneke and Earl Keeny plus others down to Mississippi, Alabama and Louisiana.  With pickups, Quads, tools and supplies and donations they arrived in the small towns distributing the goods donated by the good people in the Lodge #18 area.  They looked for officers in need who were working 24/7 365 and could not even go home and fix their own broke windows, clean up trees and debris from their own yards but this group spent 10 days helping many of these folks in need, cops helping cops.

    There are many other persons whom should be named and groups that have worked hard to promote and follow the ways of the FOP to all of you we salute.  To the brave who worked on the local board to make this lodge one of the best in Washington State.  And thank you to our members whom when the time of need arrives step up and make this Lodge what it is.  And we can not end without a special thanks to our Auxilery who have always been there when our members are in need or the lodge needs the helping hands, your the best!

    Happy 21st;

    North Cascades Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #18
